The length of the car has increased by almost 10 centimeters, and the wheelbase – by 6.4 cm. The second generation RX has become wider by 1.76 cm and has grown only slightly. Such changes in the external parameters were not in vain for the internal “comfortable” values: the space for the legs of the front passengers increased, the luggage compartment volume increased. To maintain the reputation of one of the most comfortable off-road vehicles on the planet, the company’s engineers increased body rigidity, worked more thoroughly on aerodynamics and redesigned engine mounts, allowing the RX 330 to get closer to the prestigious ES 300 sedan in the cabin. Dual-zone climate control; electric seats, allowing you to adjust the driver’s seat in eight directions, and the passenger – in four; wood trim panels and a comfortable three-spoke steering wheel, which has buttons for controlling the road computer and audio system – this is what a comfortable world awaits the future owner of the Lexus RX 330.

Deciding to add respectability to the lightest of their SUVs, the Japanese equipped the next generation car with many premium options, such as the ability to adjust the steering column in two directions with the help of the notorious electrics, multi-pane roof, night lights for door handles and thresholds. Auto-dimming rear-view mirrors and electric tailgate are also available as standard. The streams of music in the new Lexus flow from the 11-column stereo system Mark Levinson, which includes a 6-disc CD changer as the head unit. Despite the fact that because of this, the list of additional equipment looks quite poor, it includes DVD and high-level navigation systems, as well as a rear-view camera broadcasting the situation behind the car on a large screen in the middle of the central panel. For an additional fee, the car can be equipped with all-wheel air suspension, which is programmed to work in four modes: normal (Normal), automatically reducing ground clearance at speeds of 100 km / h, “high” off-road (High), highway (Low) and convenient for input and output (Access).

The new SUV comes with a six-cylinder V-shaped “six”, the volume of which has been increased from 3.0 to 3.3 liters. This made it possible to obtain a small increase in 10 “horses” in power and a significant increase in torque. 230 hp with the help of the proprietary variable valve timing system, VVT-i allows the car to sprint up to a hundred in just 7.7 seconds from the front, and in 7.8 with all-wheel drive. It is worth noting that this is almost a second better than the results of the previous model! The RX 330 is equipped with a drive-by-wire “electronic” gas pedal and a “smart” five-speed automatic transmission that allows you to keep fuel consumption within reasonable limits.

Like its predecessor, the RX 330 is equipped with all-wheel drive with a central differential. In addition, the new car has a VSC stabilization system, which monitors the slippage of all four wheels and distributes torque not only between the axles, but also between the right and left wheels, making it using the standard brake system and engine management. The stabilization system, which is also installed on the “American” front-wheel drive versions, works together with the Brake Assist, ABS system of emergency braking, as well as with a special program that monitors the air pressure in the tires. Meanwhile, passive safety is maintained at a decent level with the help of multiple airbags: frontal, side curtains, knee-length for the driver and front passenger, as well as airbags of a new type, protecting the stomach and pelvic bones.
