A brief history of this union is as follows. Günther Irmscher has been driving his own training on NSU cars for a long time, and he achieved some success in motor racing. In the late sixties, Irmscher changes his preferences, transferring from NSU to Opel, whose potential seemed more promising to the German. And soon he creates a company specializing in fine-tuning “Opel”. In 1972, the newly appeared Irmscher International GmbH presented its first serious work to the public, the Ascona model with a 215-horsepower engine and a modified suspension.

This work turned out to be so serious that it attracted the attention of the managers of Adam Opel AG, who had long ago thought about organizing a sports department. And here – a ready-made company with highly qualified specialists, capable of producing a quality product. Gunther Irmscher was invited to become a partner of Adam Opel, and he did not refuse the offer. Thirty years of continuous cooperation proved the correctness of the choice made by both parties.

Until recently, all Irmsherovskie beauty were available to the Russian buyer except as an additional equipment for used cars. Today the situation has changed dramatically. “Official” tuning is becoming fashionable, as it has a number of advantages over the “unofficial”, the most important of which is the preservation of the full warranty on the car purchased from the dealer. Such big names as Hamann, Abt, Carlsson, have already “lit up” with cooperation with Russian dealers. It was the turn of the Irmscher.

In order not to be unfounded, as an illustration, we present two show cars. This hatchback Corsa and Astra of the current sample, decorated with all possible accessories for them from Irmscher. The “mechanics” of the machines remained unchanged, since the behavior of the modified components and assemblies under our conditions raises certain questions. We can only say that for Russia so far only programs for tuning engines of 2.2 liters and above have been approved. But without upgrading the ride quality, both cars are road stars, spoiled by everyone’s attention.

Astra, in spite of the fact that it occupies a higher rung in the Opele hierarchy, looks simpler than Corsa. Maybe her “modest” dark color, maybe utilitarian pyatidvernost. Let’s start with the question that interests everyone: how much does this beauty cost? It’s not a secret: almost 6,800 dollars, of which 2,250 fall on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels and Michelin tires. Another $ 1,650 spent on interior decoration. The boring Opele interior radically changed: a luxurious steering wheel, chrome edging of instruments and ventilation control knobs make the Astra feel completely different. Gradually, you notice all the new touches: the knob of the gearshift lever, metal door sills, front door lock buttons. There is also a leather armrest, but it is useless here, because it interferes with shifting gears.

Astra looks most aggressively from behind. Tinted lights, two wing wings, a bumper spoiler and a twin pipe of a tuned exhaust system seen from under it, for some drivers, discourage the desire to measure strength, for others, on the contrary, it is clearly ignited. By the way, the standard 1.8-liter engine capacity of 125 liters. with. will allow to give a fitting response to encroachment on your place in the stream. The front of the car is decorated with a spoiler and a “checkered” grille with an inconspicuous letter “i”. On the sides of the body, expressive rapids are “launched”, and the cover on the fuel tank flap complements the sports entourage.

Corsa Irmscher – something with something! The appearance of this “clockwork orange” on the streets causes a real sensation. Not a car, but a bundle of energy, illuminating everything around with its warm radiance. Without any doubt, tuning compact city cars is one of the most interesting directions. Look at this “Korsu”, compare it with serial copies, to which we sometimes do not pay attention! But before you – the car in the Comfort version with a 1.2-liter motor and Easytronic robotic transmission, which dealers cost $ 11,300. Full hardware in this case cost $ 4,100.

The salon here is not as expressive as that of Astra, although its costs for facelifting are comparable – $ 1,400. The central place is again occupied by an incomparable steering wheel with a raised rim and silver plastic inserts. As for the wheels, it will not be possible to carry out a direct analogy, since only the price of 15-inch disks with the installation kit is known – $ 900.
