So, by the spring of 2003, Ksara came up with new surprises.

On the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, a small cosmetic surgery was subjected to the car: they redesigned the front bumper, integrating fog lights into it; widened the front air intake, breathing easier for the engine; added chrome horizontal lining on the body and the luggage compartment lid; came up with a couple of new colors. It is a pity, but solutions in the style of a successful racing Xsara WRC did not appear – the designers did not dare to make large-scale transformations in appearance. It seems that the time of cardinal actions will come later – the last time the car radically changed its appearance in September 2000. New parts scattered around the interior of the car, should add “Ksare” exclusivity and modernity – in any case, according to the authors. Let’s see if the aluminum and chrome inserts, which have found their place in the door panels, on the air duct deflectors, the handbrake handle and the gearbox, will cope with this task. Also changed their names interior design model VTR and VTS.

But the main change took place under the hood, where a 70-horsepower HDI diesel engine of 1.4 liters was added to the vast range of nine power units. The new engine is equipped with a single common-rail fuel line supplying fuel under high pressure (from 250 to 1400 bar). Electronically controlled injectors accurately calculate the amount and moment of injection of diesel fuel. This also applies to a special procedure, due to which a “pilot” gets into the combustion chamber in front of the main portion, bringing the temperature to the optimum, which in turn reduces the brand noise and vibration of a diesel engine. The motor has decent torque performance – its maximum of 160 Nm is available already at 2000 rpm. This engine will be the first in the line of diesel units, where two two-liter HDI engines with a capacity of 90 and 110 hp are already present.
