The design of the car has not changed much, except for new optics with fashionable round headlights in trapezoidal ovals, like on Phaeton, and the shape of the front and especially the rear bumpers, due to which the five-door hatchback began to resemble a shortened wagon. Characteristic vyshtampovki on the hood under the headlights give a sporty, even “muscular” notes look calm appearance. The length of the car increased by 57 mm, width by 24, and height by 39 mm, which increased the space in the area of ​​the rear passengers (by as much as 65 mm below and 24 mm in the “head”). Backseat passengers in the new “Golf” has become much more comfortable, because they suffer primarily in tight hatchbacks. Slightly increased trunk volume – from 330 to 347 liters. As is customary in Europe, at first consumers are offered a choice of the two most popular body options: the three- and five-door hatchbacks. Then, two or three years later, a wagon, convertible, and “charged” version enter the market, like the cult GTI. Sedans and 2-door coupe European drivers have long been not offered, for this there is a separate modification of the Bora – only in the form of a 5-door sedan. The new Golf is equipped with a choice of four engines: two petrol 1.4 (75 hp) and 1.6 (115 hp) and two turbo diesel TDI of 1.9 (110 hp) and 2.0 (140 hp). The most high-speed V6 engine with a volume of 3.2 and a power of 250 hp will surely appear. Three transmissions are offered: a 6-speed “mechanics”, the same “automatic” or a new sequential gearbox DSG. In the future, all-wheel drive is expected. For the new “Golf” traditionally, there are three basic configurations: Trendline, Comfortline and Sportline. Six airbags for the driver and passengers, active front head restraints, safety pedals, anti-lock brakes with power booster and electronic body stabilization system in turns ESP are installed on all cars serially. The torsional rigidity of the body is increased compared to the previous model by as much as 80%! The rear seats fold in a ratio of 2/3 or completely, as an option, a convertible front seat is offered for better placement of oversized cargo. And who now needs these mini and microVans? In general, the fifth generation Golf has turned out traditionally solid, well recognizable and not without claims to high comfort.
