Outwardly, the seven-seater Multivan T5 is as strict and German as practical as the T4, although it is larger in size. The increase in length was 101 mm, in width – 64 mm and in height – 24 mm. As a result, the volume of the cabin has grown to 5.4 cubic meters.

“Freedom is not so much an idea, as a collection of possibilities.” The Russian premiere of the Volkswagen Multivan T5, hosted by the official dealer of the German concern, the capital company Rus-Lan, was held under such a slogan.

Outwardly, the seven-seater Multivan T5 is as strict and German as practical as the T4, although it is larger in size. The increase in length was 101 mm, in width – 64 mm and in height – 24 mm. As a result, the volume of the cabin has grown to 5.4 cubic meters. The basic equipment “te-fifth” includes heat-insulating glazing, exterior mirror fairings, bumpers and door handles in body color, chrome-plated radiator grille.

Even richer internal equipment. The driver and front passenger swivel chairs are equipped with a lumbar support, armrests and adjustable seat cushion height. On the side windows in the passenger area there are 4 sun blinds. Airbags 6 (front, side and top), all of them – to protect the driver and the person sitting next, and the top – also to protect the passengers of the second row of seats. Rear side seats with Isofix preparation for mounting child seats. There are 6 rigging loops in the cabin, which indicates the machine’s adaptability to the carriage of goods. Finally, an important part of the standard equipment is ABS, EDS electronic differential lock, ASR traction control and ESP.

In the presented configuration Comfortline interior “te-fifth” trimmed with beige leather and decorative inlays of aluminum. The car is equipped with an on-board computer, a middle table, a luggage compartment cover, and carpeted floors in the passenger area. A multipurpose table with storage drawers, extendable cup holders and an ashtray can not only be moved in the longitudinal direction, but also removed. Implanted panels with deflectors and swivel canopies of local lighting above each place are implanted in the ceiling. For the convenience of embarkation and disembarkation, the footrests are illuminated. Two sliding side doors, a sliding window on the right, a second single seat with two armrests, and profiles for attaching luggage on the roof, seem to be comfortable. Factory alarm protects the interior and acts as an anti-tow truck. However, in Russia such an office on wheels clearly needs an additional “anti-theft”.

In the list of options there is a triple seat that can be transformed into a sleeping bed, curtains and bed mat, a cooling chamber, and hinged brackets for transporting bicycles (from the outside – up to 4 pieces). The universal system of roller bearings and guides, a programmable auxiliary heater with remote control and even a removable drawbar coupling are not overlooked. Options include a Delta radio with a CD player, a rain sensor and a dimming salon mirror, opening the rear door from the passenger compartment, automatic headlights. And here’s what can not be called trifles in Russian conditions: reinforced suspension, full-size “spare tire”, heated windshield washer nozzles, folding exterior mirrors. There are, of course, cruise control, “fog” and a lot of other useful things that have become familiar to motorists.

The car is put on alloy wheels Miato, shod with tires 215/65 R16. Five-cylinder turbo diesel volume of 2.5 liters capacity of 130 hp accelerates the three-ton colossus to the “hundred” in 15.8 seconds and allows her to reach the maximum speed of 168 km / h. By the way, the 6-speed manual transmits traction only to the front wheels. All-wheel drive version is likely to appear later. The load capacity of the T5 is 1000 kg, and the mass of the towed trailer can reach 2500 kg.
